Los Angeles Pool Remodel Adds Value to Your Home.

According to a Redfin analysis, a pool's effect on a property’s value has a lot to do with where you live.

How much is a pool worth?  The answer depends on where you live.  In Los Angeles homes with pools sell for an estimated $117,188 more than comparable homes without them, making it the top metro area where pools are most valuable.  Orange County is 2nd on the list, where a pool adds $68,654 to the value of a typical-sized home in that metro.

What is a Pool Remodel?

The term "pool remodel" is a general term referring to any type of renovation or modification made to an existing pool.  It could be as simple as standard replaster, or as complicated as major pool structural modifications such as adding a new spa or altering the size and/or shape of the pool.

Why Do Pools Need to be Resurfaced?

The majority of pools have some variant of a pool plaster interior pool finish, from standard white plaster, color plaster, PebbleTec or any other type of exposed aggregate plaster finishes.  Standard pool plaster usually lasts on average 8 to 10 years, with a max of around 15 to 20 years.  Exposed aggregate like PebbleTec or Mini Pebble pool finishes can last up to 15 to 30 years.  Pool plaster is a soft material and over its lifetime can be exposed to harsh pool chemicals , fluctuating temperatures, and water pH which over the years results in pool walls and floors that may feel rougher like sandpaper and may begin to develop cracks or stains from dirt & debris.  Once this happens, its time to consider: "pool resurfacing", "pool replastering", "pool refinishing" which are all similar terms referring to the same process of stripping off and removing a pool's old plaster pool finish and then applying a new type of pool finish.  This process can take an older looking pool and make it look better than new,.  A pool's pool finish is not only responsible for being the water resistant layer that keeps water inside your pool, but it is also the layer responsible for the overall appearance and color of your pool water.  Check out our pool contractor tips section for more info on all types of pool finishes,
